We can all help prevent physician suicide. Please join the Medical Student Counseling Center (MSCC) as we observe National Physician Suicide Awareness Day (NPSA Day) on Wednesday, September 16th between 10am and 3pm in the MERF Courtyard.
Help remind those in your community that they are not alone. Write a message of hope or honor someone you miss, then add your flag to the Field of Memories.
More than half of physicians know a physician who has either considered, attempted or died by suicide in their career. It’s estimated that one million American's loose their physician to suicide each year. NPSA Day is a reminder and call to action to support physicians’ mental health and wellbeing.
With your help, everyday we can make time to talk – and to act – so physicians’ struggles don’t become mental health emergencies. Help remind those in your community that they are not alone. See the attached flyer for more details. Email osac-mscc@uiowa.edu for questions.
If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, call or text the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline 9-8-8 (available 24/7) or the UI Support and Crisis Line 844-461-5420 (available 24/7).
